On Thanksgiving, everyone always eats turkey.

In the 19th century, Sarah Josepha Hale, an influential magazine editor, campaigned to make Thanksgiving a national holiday.

 She also promoted turkey as a main dish in her book. Additionally, since 1947, it has been a tradition for U.S. presidents 

to receive live turkeys in a ceremony known as the National Thanksgiving Turkey Giving. These turkeys are often "pardoned" and not eaten.

Over time, turkey has become symbolically associated with Thanksgiving. It represents a sense of richness and American heritage. 

The act of preparing and sharing a turkey dinner is seen as a way to express gratitude and celebrate with family and friends. 

As Thanksgiving has been celebrated with turkey for generations, it has become ingrained in American culture. 

The tradition lives on, strengthening the connection between turkey and Thanksgiving.
